PIPA and SOPA Stopped — For Now

After increasing pressure from the internet-using public, U. S. lawmakers have withdrawn the Protect IP Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act. The main sponsors said, they would hold voting on these pieces of legislation until they have been further worked on. It is unclear if “further work” is a good thing or not. Stepped up pressure and widespread protests from internet-based businesses including names like Google, Reddit and Wikipedia seem to have contributed to the lawmakers’ sudden change of mind.
